Getting A Furnace Tune-Up

As winter fastly approaches, it’s that time of year again to ensure your furnace is not only working correctly but is safe to operate.

How We Do It

At Tiger Air Heating & Air Conditioning, we first make sure that your furnace is safe for our professionals to work on. Meaning, we are, in a sense, checking the pulse of your furnace. We utilize a combustion analyzer, and we drill a hole in the exhaust pipe. This procedure ensures that the stove delivers the suitable BTU (a form of measurement that measures energy).

Drilling a hole into the exhaust pipe allows for carbon monoxide, oxygen levels, and temperatures. Once we receive those numbers, we can then assess whether or not your furnace is safe. This drilling and measuring process takes no more than ten to fifteen minutes.

We then check the status pressure with static pressure gauges. This procedure helps us ensure the furnace is delivering the right CFM (Cubic Feet per Minute). We want to make sure your furnace is providing the right amount of air into your home. We then check for combustible gases to make sure there are no gas leaks in your system.

From here, we check the heat exchanger as well. The purpose of reviewing all of these components is to make sure your furnace is running appropriately and at one hundred percent capacity to heat your entire home.

So to make sure your furnace is running at total capacity, you want to get it checked at least once a year, which should take place right before the winter season.
